IMPORTANT INFORMATION

FOR PARENTS AT MES…. PLEASE READ!

Parent Feb_12INCLEMENT WEATHER…. We have an automated calling system, the Alert Now system. When school is closed or delayed due to inclement weather or other emergencies, we will activate the system. All parents provided phone numbers for the system on the form included in the enrollment packet. If you don’t receive a phone message, you can check on the district website, or call the school and press 9 when the phone message begins. We are also on local radio and tv stations as Mercer County Special Services School District.

PTA -  The PTA will be having a meeting on Monday, February 6 at 9:30 AM. The meeting will be to go over the fundraising and other issues affecting the school PTA. Please come to give us your input and support !

PTA CONTEST -  The PTA would like to increase family membership. Right now we have 100% staff membership, but less than 20% family membership. To increase having at least one family member for each child, we are running a contest. Classrooms will be categorized by large or small. The classroom in each category that has the most parent memberships by the end of the month (Feb 29) will receive a reward. The reward will be that each child in the winning classrooms will receive $7 toward the purchase of a book at the school book fair, held in early March. Right now we have some classes that are at 100% membership!!   Remember it is only $5 to join!!! Your teacher will be sending home a membership form, or you can use the tear off on the last PTA newsletter!

FYI - Students from Rider University will be working with the classes here at MES as part of their coursework for their education degree. They will hold their actual classes here rather than on Rider campus and then the students will do 30 hours of classroom work. I am sure you will hear about any new adults in your child’s class. This is the fourth year we have paired with Rider U and it has been a positive experience for us and the college students.

Assembly - There will be a dental health assembly to go over proper brushing and dental hygiene for students. Each student will receive a toothbrush. In keeping with dental health month we are promoting student oral care.

Please remember to call your child out when they will be absent! The student absence line is listed on the front of this calendar. It saves us calling you and allows us to notify the teacher before the buses arrive.

Also, please, there are viruses, etc. going around. If your child is sick, please keep them home! More info on student illness in school will be sent home this month!

Have a GREAT month!
