Support Services

The Child Study Team is made up of Case Managers who are either School Social Workers, School Psychologists, or Learning Disabilities Teacher/Consultants.  One case manager is assigned to each class to facilitate communication between home and school as well as the local sending school district and community agencies.  Additional services, provided by case managers include crisis intervention, problem solving, social skills training, and classroom support as needed.  Case managers collaborate with school staff, parents and the sending district to develop Individual Education Plans.

A full array of Assistive Technology is available to the students enrolled in our high school.  The district wide department conducts augmentative assessments, loans out devices and works closely with the local districts and/or families to purchase technology and software.  Devices are deployed in a variety of settings to augment delivery of the general curriculum and to facilitate transition to the community.  Adaptations to support the use of computers, environmental devices and workplace machines are provided by the assistive technology staff.

Staff ensures that augmentative communication devices, if needed, are used throughout the school day and in the community and workplace settings.  In-service training is provided to staff in the area of augmentative communication.  The assistive technology staff works closely with teachers, classroom staff, and therapists to maximize communication opportunities.

The district wide Special Child Health Services (SCHS) Case Management Unit assists in the provision of coordinated and comprehensive services for children with special health needs or potentially disabling conditions. The case manager collaborates with the family and others to develop an ongoing plan. The plan addresses the child's medical, developmental, rehabilitative, educational, social, and emotional needs. The case manager supports the family in meeting those needs.  The office of Special Child Health Services is available to assist families in completing the process for registration with the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) as well as other issues/concerns as they relate to the health and well-being of our students and the families that supports them.
