Overview of 6th, 7th and 8th Grade
World and United States History
The Social Studies/History curriculums for the middle school grades provide a scope and sequence of skills to be presented. Given the extensive variety of developmental needs and wide range of learning styles, we work providing differentiated instruction based on the individual needs of our students.
Students will be provided with experiences that will foster their growth as committed global citizens. The emphasis is on making connections between the past and present. Students will be exposed to ancient civilizations through the 1800’s. A variety of materials, presentations, and simulations will support their awareness and commitment to their community.
Once again the goal is to encourage learners at all levels to understand events of the past and how they continue to shape our future. The 6th, 7th, 8th grade World History and Cultures, United States History, and World History 500AD-1700 curriculums, respectively, have been aligned with the New Jersey Core Content Curriculum Standards for Social Studies. An extensive list of materials, strategies, and assessments has been presented in order to provide students with enlightening experiences in the areas of social studies.
